Two women overcome by carbon monoxide in Missouri City
06:00 PM CST on Tuesday, November 18, 2008
MISSOURI CITY, Texas – Two Missouri City women were taken to the hospital Tuesday after being overcome by carbon monoxide fumes.
It happened at a home in the 2100 block of Hilton Head.
The owner of the home, Michael Wilson, said he turned on his vehicles inside his garage because he didn’t use them much and he didn’t want the battery to run down.
Wilson told 11 News that he forgot about the vehicles and let them run for six hours.
A neighbor reportedly smelled the carbon monoxide and called Wilson.
Wilson asked the neighbor to turn off the vehicles. But a family member and friend later went inside the home and were overcome by fumes.
“The fire department said that there was so much carbon monoxide in there that by the time they got upstairs they just both fell. One of them was able to call 911,” said Wilson.
“When they (fire department) got here, they pulled them out,” he said.
The women were taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital.
Authorities say both are expected to be OK.
