Investigators say the suspects forged checks at H-E-B stores from Waco to Corpus Christi. A tip from the public identified the suspects as James Eugene Pestello, 37, and Catyria Cantera, 26, according to the arrest affidavit.
H-E-B reported losses at more than $16,000, with 59 checks written in Travis County alone.
Police say Cantera and Pestello live in the San Antonio area, but both are known to travel often, according to the affidavit.
Warrants were issued for forgery, which is a state jail felony. Bond was set at $50,000 for both suspects.
