Woman reports abduction, rape in Old East Dallas
12:00 AM CDT on Wednesday, August 20, 2008
A woman in her early 50s reported being abducted, raped and robbed early Monday in the White Rock area, and police are hoping the public can help them find the suspects.
The woman's ordeal began about 1:30 a.m. as she returned to her apartment in the 7400 block of La Vista Drive near White Rock Lake after visiting a friend, she said.
"Immediately after I stepped out of the car and shut the door, they were on me," she said. Both men had guns, she said. They grabbed her cellphone, bank card and car keys. One of them opened her car and rummaged through it.
Then they rushed her over to their car – possibly a 2002 Chevrolet Caprice or Impala with white pinstripes on both sides and a light-brown leather interior – and forced her into the back seat, she said.
"The guy that got in the back seat with me had me in a headlock the whole time," she said.
Soon, they stopped the car and raped her, she said.
"At one point, down in the back seat he was hitting me on the head with his little gun," she said. They shouted commands and expletives at her.
They forced her to tell them her bank card personal identification number and stopped at a house to check it on a computer inside, she said. "He said, 'If this is the wrong ATM PIN, we're gonna come back and pop you.' "
They abandoned her in the 700 block of Elston Drive near Laurel Land Cemetery in the Red Bird area, she said.
She went to nearby homes and knocked on a door to find help.
"They never did answer the door," she said. "They just talked to me through the window" and called police. She was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital.
The woman said she has learned that someone took $365 from her account at an ATM at a Chevron station on R.L. Thornton Freeway.
"They did two transactions, and they took all the money," she said.
The woman, who is single and works for a hospital, said she is moving to a new apartment because the men have her address and her house key.
"I've lived in this apartment complex for three years, and I've always felt safe," she said. "It's a life-changing thing. I will acquire myself a handgun. I will get a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
"I will learn how to shoot it, and I will protect myself."
The woman described the suspects as black men between 25 and 30, both with short hair and clean-shaven faces. One was about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 160 pounds, and wore a light tan hoodie and dark pants. The other was about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 145 pounds, and wore a dark shirt and white plastic sunglasses with slats across the front.
Anyone with information is asked to call Dallas police at 214-671-3584.
