Coppell ISD announces these events:
•Monday – Public hearing on budget at 6 p.m.; board meeting at 6:30 p.m.
•Thursday – Welcome back band concert at Coppell High School stadium
•Aug. 22 – Football season starts with home scrimmage game against Duncanville
SAT prep sessions
The school district offers three sessions of SAT preparation classes. The first session runs from Aug. 26 to Oct. 2; the second is from Oct. 6 to Nov. 19; and the third session is from Jan. 29 to March 12. The cost is $600. Contact Melissa Mahan in the Administration Building.
to recruit members
The Coppell/Valley Ranch Early Childhood PTA will hold its annual membership drive from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Aug. 27 in the gym at the Coppell Aquatic Center, 234 E. Parkway Blvd. Those with children ages 5 and younger are welcome.
The organization holds monthly meetings September through May at the Coppell Family YMCA, 146 Town Center Blvd. The group also offers play groups and other activities throughout the year. Annual dues are $20 to cover the cost of the newsletter.

first step in IB process
Coppell High School has completed the first step in the International Baccalaureate selection process. The next step, "application part B," is under review by the IB World Organization. Upon approval of part B, the district will host a site visit, planned for this fall. After the site visit, the IB World Organization will announce its decision.
